H.E. Yvette Kapinga Ngandu
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the United States
Ambassador Kapinga Yvette Ngandu was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to the United States in June 2025 and joined her duty station on 30 October 2025.
Prior to this appointment, Ambassador Ngandu was Commissioner for Gender Promotion, Human and Social Development at the Economic Community of Central African States Commission (from August 30, 2020 to August 2025), with Libreville, Gabon as duty station. As such, she was the first woman to head the largest department of ECCAS, with ten key sectors to oversee (health, humanitarian action, education and scientific research, culture, migration, employment, humanitarian action, gender, youth, sports, and social affairs); and the youngest of the seven elected members of the new Commission at just 44 years of age.

VISA | PASSPORT | TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
The DRC Government is committed to facilitating the travels of Congolese Nationals living abroad and the Embassy in the US will assist Congolese Nationals with DRC Passport issuance, renewals and “Tenant-Lieu”. Visa for all travelers including foreign applicants, passport or travel document for Congolese Nationals, legalization of documents and power of attorney.
CIVIL AFFAIRS FOR DIASPORA CONGOLESE
The Embassy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Washington, DC, provides dedicated Civil Affairs services for Congolese nationals living abroad. This includes assistance with DRC passport issuance, renewals, and “Tenant-Lieu,” helping facilitate travel and support for members of the diaspora.

The Embassy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Washington, D.C. represents the interests of the DRC in the United States and provides diplomatic engagement, consular services, and support for Congolese nationals, visitors, investors, and the diaspora.

The DRC’s investment agency namely the National Agency for Investment Promotion (ANAPI), provides investment facilitation services for initial investments over $200,000 and is mandated to simplify the investment process, make procedures more transparent, assist new foreign investors and improve the image of the DRC as an investment destination.
